25 September: Mid-Autumn and Fireworks in One Night

Published

Friday 25 September 2026 does something the Macau calendar rarely manages: Mid-Autumn Festival and the third night of the 34th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest land on the same evening. Two displays go up from the waters facing Macau Tower, at 21:00 and 21:40, and for those forty minutes the peninsula turns to face the harbour.

Where you go afterwards is the half worth planning now. East Castle Spa (東方皇堡水療), on the third floor of the Casa Real Hotel at 1118 Avenida do Dr. Rodrigo Rodrigues, sits in NAPE — close enough to two of the six officially recommended viewing spots that you can walk out for the show, walk back after the finale, and never join the taxi queue. As of August 2026 the venue is open 24 hours, so an arrival at half past ten at night costs you nothing.

Two occasions, one evening

The contest runs five nights in 2026: 12, 19 and 25 September, then 1 and 4 October. Ten teams compete. The organiser, fireworks.macaotourism.gov.mo, notes the schedule may change, and its latest announcement governs.

The 25th is the night doing double duty: Mid-Autumn, when dinner runs late and the mooncakes come out, and a competition night, with two displays rather than one. Anyone in NAPE that evening gets both without moving a car.

The walk from the third floor

Two of the six official spots are walkable from the front door; the other two are worth a car.

The Kun Iam waterfront is the promenade along Avenida Sun Yat-sen below the lotus-domed Kun Iam statue, and most guests pick it: leave at a quarter to nine and there is still railing to lean on.

After the finale

The 21:40 display ends and several thousand people hunt the same taxi. Twelve minutes on foot takes you back instead. As of August 2026 East Castle Spa is open around the clock, and therapists are on shift from 15:00 until 06:00 the following morning — two separate facts that together put a post-fireworks massage comfortably inside the window rather than at the edge of it.

Inside, the venue describes itself as having more than 20 scenario rooms, six of them photographed: airplane cabin, boxing ring, classroom, clinic, hospital and gym, all on the scenario rooms page. Food and soft drinks are included, from steak and seafood to fried rice, noodle soup and milk tea, with spirits and wine charged separately. Overnight brings free sleeping space and a free lounge; a private rest room is a paid extra.

As of August 2026 the minimum spend to change and enter is MOP 1,728 — not a door charge, since it already covers one full-body massage plus the food and drink inside. Also as of August 2026, menu prices carry a 10% service charge and a 5% tourism tax on top rather than folded in; the full board is on the massage menu. The board in the venue is the last word, and current details can be confirmed when you book.

Book through this site and, as of September 2026, there is no entry fee, a free private transfer anywhere in Macau in both directions, and one free add-on service for guests booking through this site — the transfer earning its keep on 1 and 4 October too. Pickup is on the getting there page, the arrival sequence on your visit.

Mid-Autumn and a competition night rarely share a date. When they do, the short plan is the good one: walk out from East Castle Spa, watch both displays, walk back, and let the night run as long as it likes.

Send your date, the number of people and the room you would like through the booking page.
